Repair Café

Repairing is not only cheaper and more sustainable than buying new - it's also more fun! That is why we host a Repair Café together with the AKK on the first Monday of every month.

Where and When? Usually in the AKK Café (Engesserstraße 17, 76131 Karlsruhe) on the first Monday of every month from 6 pm. Current deviations and specific dates can be found on our Reparatur-Initiativen page.

Who? Everyone is warmly welcome - student or not! No prior expertise is required.

What? We offer you free help to fix your device or garment! We have tools and supplies on site to fix most electronics and sewing problems. From electrical devices like vacuum cleaners or fans, over computers and phones, to holes in jeans or ripped seams on your jacket - we'll help you!

How? We would appreciate it if you would send us a short mail to repaircafe@asta-kit.de describing your problem in advance, so we can prepare and potentially bring the appropriate tools. But you are also welcome to just drop by unannounced!

Please bring your thing, including everything needed to reproduce the problem like accessories, power supplies, control units as well as any documentation. If you already have materials or spare parts, please bring those too. If you're bringing clothing, feel free to bring matching fabric for patching.

Once you're there, you will be guided through the entire repair process by one of our experienced repairers. Don't worry, you don't need any prior experience. If there are individual steps that are too difficult for you, we'll jump in for you. But our goal is not only that your item works again, but also that you learn how to repair things yourself.

Helpers wanted! To help us with offering this, we are looking for experienced tinkerers who would like to help others with repairs or may have access to special tools. There are also many other tasks where we could use help: welcome desk/registration, newsletter & e-mails, AKK counter service, advertising, etc. If you're interested, just contact repaircafe@asta-kit.de!
