Emergency accommodation for students

We offer emergency accommodation for students who have not found an apartment at the beginning of the semester. Our aim is to support you during this transitional phase and provide you with temporary accommodation. The offer is explicitly aimed not only at KIT students, but at students from all over Karlsruhe.

Accommodation details

• Location: The dormitories are located in the west wing of the Old Stadium. On Willy-Andreas Allee, near the HKA and PH. Separate accommodation for men and women in the ASH room of the HaDiKo student residence.
• Period: October 13 – November 16, 2025
• Cost: A deposit of €30 will be charged.
• Accommodation: A room with camp beds is available. Please bring a sleeping bag and a sleeping mat. There is access to toilets, and showers are available during the week at the Sports Institute (building 40.40/40.44) and at the PH (building 3, room 220).
• Dormitories: There is the option of gender-separated dormitories.

Registration

Registration is possible on site via the social services department or social counseling during there office times. Registration by email is also possible, but cannot be processed at short notice. We therefore ask that you submit registrations by email at least 3 days in advance (sozial@asta-kit.de). All residents of the emergency shelters are required to have a one-time meeting with a member of the emergency shelter team. Information on this will follow digitally after registration by email or in a conversation on site.

Important: Keys will not be issued at the time of registration. Access will be handed over at the AStA counter. Therefore, depending on when you want to move in, please note the counter opening hours on our website. More details will be provided during registration, both digitally and online-

Preparation

To speed up the registration process, please bring the completed registration form (see attachments below) and your certificate of enrollment with you. Prior notification to the Social Department by e-mail will also help to facilitate the process. The application, as well as the enrollment certificate, can also be submitted entirely digitally by email.

After registration

After registration, we will accompany the students to the rooms. You will receive a key/access for a deposit and can immediately move into your emergency bed on your own. It is possible for up to eight people to share a room, but this is rarely the case.

Additional support

You can contact us at any time if you need help finding accommodation. Although we are not able to find accommodation directly, we can share our experience and give you valuable tips on finding accommodation.
