According to EU Directive 2016/2102, BGG and BITV 2.0

The General Student Committee (AStA) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) strives to make its website barrier-free.

This statement applies to the website: https://www. asta-kit. de

Legal basis

  • EU Directive 2016/2102
  • Disability Equality Act (BGG)
  • Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0)

Status of compatibility with the requirements

This website is currently largely barrier-free . It is based on:

  • the BITV 2.0
  • the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, conformance level AA

The assessment is based on conceptual planning, internal reviews and ongoing testing during development.

Since the website is still under construction and further development, it may happen that individual content or functions are not yet completely barrier-free.

Non-accessible content

Individual content is still being revised or migrated. The following content may currently have restrictions:

  • older documents (e. g. PDFs) are gradually revised, replaced or removed.
  • External content or embedded third-party services are sometimes beyond our direct control.

We are continually working to break down existing barriers.

Barrier-free design of the website

The following measures in particular are taken into account during development:

  • Clear and logically structured page structure
  • Consistent and sensible heading hierarchies
  • Complete usability via keyboard
  • Sufficient color contrasts
  • Meaningful alternative texts for images
  • Understandable and as simple language as possible
  • Barrier-free design of forms and interactive elements
  • Provision of documents as barrier-free as possible
