The student print shop at KIT

The AStA print shop is located in the middle of KIT Campus South in the heart of Karlsruhe. 
The print shop specializes in affordable and fast printing and binding of student print products. The price for a DIN A4 black-and-white page is €0.03 and for a color page €0.14 - for double-sided printing in each case.

All print jobs such as lecture notes, theses, and other university prints are carried out by us promptly and usually within one business day. We offer you fast turnaround times and an advisory team at your side in case you run into difficulties preparing your print files. All orders (including those placed on site) are processed via our order form. Once you have received a pickup confirmation email, your orders can be collected at the print shop during our opening hours. Please note that only PDF documents can be printed and that, for security reasons, we do not accept USB sticks for printing.

Opening hours

The AStA print shop has fixed opening hours. However, you can place orders online around the clock and then collect them during opening hours after receiving a pickup email. We are here for you Monday through Friday:

During KIT lecture periods 
the regular opening hours apply: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

During KIT non-lecture periods 
the reduced opening hours apply: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

We are closed on public holidays.

Services of the AStA print shop

The AStA print shop offers the following services as standard, among others:

  • Printing & binding of theses (bachelor's theses / master's theses / dissertations)
  • Printing of lecture notes / seminar papers etc.
  • Binding (also of prints you bring yourself)
  • Business cards
  • Flyers
  • Posters
  • Brochures & magazines
  • Textile printing

You are also welcome to submit inquiries about other products and services. For example, we have also printed stickers,  calendars, postcards, site plans, portfolios, etc. for our customers. These orders are handled after a personal consultation .

Target group / Who may print?

Our print shop offers its service to students of all colleges and universities. They do not have to study at KIT. 
This means that students of, for example, the University of Applied Sciences or University of Education Karlsruhe, as well as students and student organizations from other cities may also print with us. In addition, university members and KIT employees may also use the AStA print shop.

Everyone else who is not a student or is not affiliated with KIT or another university may not use the AStA print shop. 
An exception to this are former employees of the AStA print shop: Former employees of the AStA print shop receive an alumni discount of 20% (Note: valid exclusively for prints for personal use!) on the total price of their orders.

In case of violation, double the price will be charged. Presenting a student ID or a KIT card is sufficient as proof.

In general, we do not offer shipping, and all prices are pickup prices including the applicable value-added tax. 
Payment is by card at pickup, unless otherwise agreed. 
For textile printing, payment is made exclusively by invoice instead. 
If you are an organization (institute, university group, student council, association, etc.), you can also pay for your order by invoice.

You can place print orders around the clock via our order form. For questions, the best way to reach us is by email. We usually reply within one working day. Depending on workload, we may sometimes be unable to answer calls. Hence, please submit written inquiries whenever possible.
